DESIGNATION

CRITERIA

In order to propose areas to become protected, a base of criteria has been made to separate areas that are worthy of protection from those that are not.

Each criterion is divided into classes which could also decide what management categories each landscape belongs to (if worthy of protection).

To prevent human-biased designations, layers from G.I.S have been turned into mathematical criteria for designation as well, which is set as an extra layer above our criteria as seen in the page Designation.

Diversity

Represented by the number of species, populations, and communities.
