Areas that are partially or entirely strictly protected and governed by the SWA for its biodiversity and possibly geological/geomorphological features. In these usually large sites, human visitation, use, impacts, and permanent habitation are controlled and sometimes limited to ensure the protection of the conservational values that are traditional, scientific, educational, and/or recreational.
